luthiertxt-about

Kent Hamblin makes some of the most beautiful guitars in the world, is considered to be one of the finest of the newer generation of luthiers and is rated among the finest makers working today. He works alone, producing only about 12 -15 guitars a year, each handbuilt from start to finish. Each instrument is considered lovingly and carefully.

Kent makes only two models, the Grand Concert (GC) and the Small Jumbo (SJ). This has enabled him to perfect what has been described as his signature sound. He has an interesting background, having worked for a time with Taylor where he worked in the neck department for a while before joining Charles Fox to make high end handmade guitars. He initially studied lutherie at the Roberto Venn school of luthiery, where he graduated and eventually became an instructor.

Kent strives to achieve an even response and likes the tone to have a sparkling transparent quality. A lot of what people say they like about his guitars, especially the SJ, is that they can play as hard or as lightly as they want and get a really excellent response. He also enjoys tailoring neck shape, neck width, and string spacing to each clients needs. A search around the internet will only find glowing praise for his instruments.

I quote a user that I found on www.clefworks.com/guitar "I can say without hesitation that if you are looking for a great guitar, Kent Hamblin is a rising star and a luthier more than worth your investigation and consideration."
